The Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI) is a national sports promotion organisation committed to strengthening physical education, sports participation, athlete development, and policy advocacy across India. PEFI works as a bridge between schools, coaches, teachers, administrators, sports scientists, government institutions, and communities to build a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive sports culture. Recognised as a National Sports Promotion Organisation (NSPO) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, PEFI has emerged as a credible and influential voice in the national sports ecosystem. The organisation was honoured with the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2024, reflecting its sustained contribution to sports promotion and grassroots development.
Since its inception, PEFI has contributed to capacity building, sports awareness, curriculum advocacy, talent development, anti-doping awareness and professional development of physical education teachers and sports coaches. PEFI has actively engaged in policy-related consultations and has worked with stakeholders on curriculum development, talent identification, sports governance, and the mainstreaming of physical education in educational systems. Through national conferences, expert workshops, CSR-driven athlete support initiatives, and collaborative programs with states and institutions, PEFI continues to create opportunities for young athletes and sports professionals. Its CSR initiatives and performance support programs have helped nurture athletes from the grassroots to the elite level, demonstrating a long-term commitment to social impact through sport.
